Lounge Pants-Kids come Free : Level 1 ages 11-Adult
In this class you or a parent/child team will fit a pattern and make a pair of pull on pants. The adult/child teams will make the child’s pants together. Adults by themselves will make their own pant.
Buy Simplicity 1520 pattern and fabrics and threads for each kid or adult. Prewash, dry and iron fabrics before class. Pick up your pizza slices and drink (est. each $5) at Lefty’s across the street and enjoy sewing and dinner. Springtime Wardrobe: Level 2
Using New Look 6217 make a collection to fit perfectly. Choose silky or knit fabrics, prewash, dry and iron them. In class get help to fit your pattern, lay out and cut your items and make it using different finishing skills for each item. Homework will be necessary to be able to finish all projects for a low class cost. Each student will make each piece together in each class. It is our belief that students bound for fashion schools need to learn to sew before they go. This course will teach you how to use a pattern and then you can design from these easy pieces on your own to create all new items of your own designs. Boot Holders: Level 2
Tired of seeing your lovely tall boots crumpled in your closet all summer? Make these inventive “boot holders” and never worry again! And what a lovely gift they will make for your friends. Material list: 1 yard of cotton fabric 45 inches wide, thread to match. We provide the materials of batting and inside stiffening to keep your boots upright in the closet all summer.

The Essential Pant: Level 3
This is a pattern making class to make custom pants draped to your body using the JSM Pant fitting system. In the first session you will be fitted for pants. Then Karen will than draft your pattern, in the next 3 classes you will learn professional techniques to making your pants. Kit fee is $75.00 and includes personal custom pattern, instruction book, and interfacing. Supply list will be discussed at first class. Homework will be necessary between each class to finish pants.

Fashion Design Portfolio
Learn the steps Fashion Designers take when designing a line of clothing. Whether you are a true beginner or a designer who is working on a line or a potential college student this is the class for you. Lauren is a local fashion designer who graduated from Parson’s School of Design in NYC. She knows how this industry works and how to get your product into stores. She will share her experience and the steps designers take to do this. She will take you to your next level and help refine the looks you love and how best to show your audience. This class is offered only 1 time this spring. Don’t miss out!

Wed. March 12: 5:30-7:00 Fashion sketching 1 and class overview. What is a mood board? Who is your client and her profile? Make your own mood board at home and bring in 10 -25 quick sketches based around the profile.
Wed. March 26: 5:30-7:00 Fashion sketching 2 and rendering intro, homework: draw 10-25 quick sketches based on your mood board.
Wed. April 2: 5:30-7:00 Show movement and different positions and finding your style in our sketching instruction, individual review mood boards and sketches to date. Discuss what fabrics would work best? Homework 10-25 drawings and choose your best drawings to represent your ideas plus rendering and adding the fabric swatches you bring.
Mon. April 14 : 530-7:00 Learn about flats and how to draw the actual design lines for production and the software available. Class members reviews everybody’s quick sketches and settle on best 3-5 sketches per collection. Homework is to draw those sketches in larger format for your portfolio binder.
Mon. April 21 5:30-7:30 Compile portfolios and present to parents at 7PM
Private Classes: (12-Adult)
Do you prefer personal instruction? Schedule a private class for your own project. Let us know what your project is and we will find the right instructor. Serger, sewing machine know how classes, quilting, dressmaking, home, tailoring, alterations, design you own gown are some of the subjects our teachers can offer you. Classes need to be scheduled two weeks in advance. $75/hr. Two hours minimum required for teacher to make time and travel for this. Please call the studio for this option. 303-652-0532
