We offer very basic classes in our Learn to Sew Program for ages 11-Adult.
Great for boys and men too!

How to use a sewing machine:Level 1
This is the class that will help you understand all of the major workings on a sewing machine, how to trouble shoot any problem, use your stitch dials/buttons, find out what threads and needles to use for what fabrics, and feel confident using a sewing machine. This is a concentrated class geared towards machine usage. Bring your machine if you have one and all of its parts and accessories or rent ours for $10, which can be applied to purchase price.

How to use your serger: Level 1
Do you have a serger at home that is still in its box? We know threading, adjusting the tensions and understanding how to use it can be challenging. Let us help! We will show you how to thread, determine tensions and differential feed , finish you edges for woven fabrics and what stitches to use to sew knits! Bring your serger in to our studio for a visit one week before class so that the teacher can meet and greet your machine. This course is only offered 1 time this spring don’t miss it. Level 2 Serger classes are offered on a private class basis at $75/hr.

Beginning Sewing: Level 1.5
We pack this class with information! Create your own instruction manual by making examples of several seam finishes for different fabrics including learning to hem jeans. You will learn how to select and buy fabrics, prepare them for sewing, learn about grains, preshrinking, drawing a thread to straighten, about pattern repeats, and nap. You will learn how to make a pattern, layout and cutting techniques, make a lined pocket, and quick straps while making your tote bag. Students use our professional tools and learn which ones work the best for the specific job. Students receive 10% off on tool purchases.

Mat. List for 2nd class; please purchase this after the first class so you know what to buy: 3/4 yd. each of 2 complimentary light weight home décor fabrics. Bring your own machine and its parts or rent one of ours ($10 for this course).
